Summary of project:
“The photos in this book are taken from Singapore, Norway, USA and Indonesia.
Due to our separate commitments, none of my family members live under the same roof anymore; I currently reside in Oslo, my sister lives in NYC, my mom is in Singapore and my dad in Indonesia.
The photos are my personal log on how I lost the meaning of ‘home’; anywhere is home to me as long as my family and friends are there. But as a physical place, I don’t know where home is.
This constant travelling between places often leads to the inevitable feeling of alienation.
The title of the book is a nod to “where are you from” kind of ice breakers, which I’m not sure how to answer anymore.
But being seen as an outsider allow me to preserve my curiosity and just like a tourist, i really enjoy the visual stimuli the street offers.
The pictures in the book often features outsiders just like me, and also people and things that don’t really belong in the ‘frames’.”
