Summary of project:
“A recent trip Japan reinforced something about myself and my work. Photography is in its essence an organic and natural process. The means of achieving this feeling is through the use of film and print mediums. The japanese have a level of respect for the printed medium not equalled elsewhere. This helped cement this fact for me. This furthered my opinions on the need for photographs to be tangible. Images on a screen have become diluted and unassuming in many ways. There are great images online, I wouldn’t argue otherwise. However, looking at an image on a backlit screen has sadly become the norm. This zine is a bi-product of the time spent in the darkroom printing on my return. The simple and comparatively unstimulating act of writing a blog post and positing the images online didn’t seem to be the right way to show the work.”
