World Photobook Day Celebration
14th October 2014,
6pm
Strange Neighbour 395 Gore St, Fitzroy, Melbourne
On October 14th 1843 the British Library catalogued Anna Atkins’ photographically illustrated book, ‘Photographs of British algae. Cyanotype impressions’ – the ‘first’ photobook.
To celebrate this day the World Photobook Day was set up in 2013 by the Photobook Club Madrid and Matt Johnston (Photobook Club), and this year there are events happening globally. This is the first World Photobook Day event in Melbourne, and has been co-ordinated by the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive.
The Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive has teamed up with Strange Neighbour to present an evening of photobook celebration and sharing.
A distinguished list of speakers will each bring along their favourite photobook and discuss it for 5 mins.
