Summary of Project:

This beautiful photography book chronicles vivid stories of hope and despair across Bangladesh in urban and rural climate affected communities. Profits from book sales will support projects run by a grassroots Bangladeshi NGO in these communities.

The book was created by Australian photographer and environmentalist Michael Chew who spent 2011-12 in Bangladesh working on climate adaptation. This book brings together a rich collection of stories from Bangladesh. There are stories of hope and despair, of the difficult realities of life, and of the ways in which these difficulties are overcome. The photographs bare the imprint of these restless people, groups, and organisations – for each image there are thousands that are active in that issue, working tirelessly and unrecognised towards local solutions. This book is dedicated to them.
