Summary of Project:

“The photographs in this book grew out of my compulsion to photograph where I live. This urge started in the late seventies and continues today. My early black and white mages were random recordings of city streets, buildings and the people who populated those places. Much of what I photographed then has gone today and the pictures remain as not much more than historical evidence that what I saw did exist. The photographs in this book, shot between 1991 and 1993, have been made on those same city streets that I trod twenty years ago. Superficially these pictures record Auckland landmarks, buildings and places. But my intention is not just to document. These new colour pictures set out to cut deeper and are indeed to have more impact than if they were just a record. The pictures represent a personal point of view on what it is like to live in an urban environment – any urban environment…”
