Summary of Project:
“Feathered serpents is my response to my personal religious upbringing and the mexican religious and spiritual practices and contradictions I witnessed. I was interested in the ways people practised their personal beliefs under the guise of the catholic church, and how these personal or traditional forms of animism or spirituality still hold significance in today. Nothing is what it seems and there are often environmental factors influencing enforced power structures. The contrast of dead pan, geometric spaces with reflective multi layered images attempts to give us a small insight into the people, their culture and the mythological undertones that continue to incise me back.” – Isabella Capezio
